David Townsend

Masters graduate pursuing a career in computer science where I will contribute to the pioneering of technology as I enhance myself and my future employer. I have a proven track record of combining vision, problem-solving, a diligent work ethic, and leadership into well-developed projects and corporate roles.

With a rich academic and professional background in computer science, I have honed my skills in several programming languages including C++, Java, Python, PHP, SQL, HTML, and CSS. My experience ranges from developing a fully functional online chess game using Agile software development methods to creating a database for tracking and organizing ACM memberships.

I have successfully completed the Google Cybersecurity Certificate program and the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity exam, which both provided comprehensive training and testing in realms of cybersecurity. Through these, I gained valuable skills in areas such as Python, Linux, SQL, SIEM tools, IDS, and developed strong abilities in communication, collaboration, analysis, and problem-solving. With these certifications, I am prepared for entry-level roles in cybersecurity.

With a strong foundation as a web developer and database architect, I have honed my skills in areas such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, and database management. I have successfully delivered projects in both team environments and solo environments, including creating databases and input mechanisms for mock organizations as well as practical use such as making a website and database to help track my own assignment due dates.

A natural communicator, my served as President, Vice-president, and Secretary of the local Toastmasters group. This honed my ability to present information clearly, engage audiences, and coordinate team efforts. My active participation in speech and debate clubs during high school further refined my articulate expression, persuasive argumentation, and active listening skills. I served as the Director of Academic Affairs in my fraternity, coordinating and planning study events, creating detailed reports and coordinating with school faculty. As a Graduate Assistant at Texas A&M, my frequent interactions with faculty and students demanded both diplomacy and clarity, strengthening my interpersonal communication and solidifying my ability to convey complex computer science concepts in an accessible manner. In these roles, I have continually demonstrated my knack for fostering understanding and collaboration in diverse settings.
